Ty's father, Joey Machado, has been competitively cooking BBQ for the last 15+ years and has been grooming Ty to carry on the family BBQ legacy.

In 2014, at age 12, Ty started actively participating in cook-offs with his dad, prepping and helping with the cooking process. In 2015, he started participating in adult cook-offs all on his own. Mainly non-sanctioned, but all of a sudden he started winning and doing great.

He had an opportunity to cook against one of the BBQ greats and a good family friend, Ernest Servants with Burnt Bean company, who has been on several TV shows like Chopped Grill Masters, BBQ Pit-Masters and most recently Smoked.  At that particular cook-off, Ty wound up second across the board right behind Ernest and after that Ty said, “I could be just like Ernest one day.” Ty has gone on to continue to compete in sanctioned BBQ cook-offs and built a pretty solid name for himself all across Texas.

Ty had the opportunity to participate on TV with his own Food Network career and was one of the contestants on Kids BBQ Championship in which he participated in 4 episodes.  Since then Ty has had numerous TV appearances both National and Local and has gone on and earned his 1st sanctioned IBCA (International BBQ Cookers Association) Grand Championship for the 2016-2017 season, making him the youngest IBCA head cook to do so. Ty continues competing across Texas but will venture out nationally to start participating in KCBS events. His future looks bright and he has a lot of really cool opportunities coming up in 2017.

Ty will be joining NBBQA (National BBQ Association) at their national conference in 2017 in Ft Worth for some special events which details will be released later this year (but should involve a national advertising campaign)

Ty enjoys mentoring young kids in cooking BBQ and also in the kitchen, he is involved in Operation BBQ Relief which raises funds and is a disaster response Team which deploy to natural disasters and provide hot meals for the needy, which most recently served over 1 million meals while deployed in Hammond, Louisiana.

He also takes time to work with Kids Q Nation which is a sanctioned Kids BBQ organization in Texas who put on Kids BBQ contests across the state. Ty does not cook in these but rather makes appearances and interviews Kids for their Facebook Live page at events.
